SPOKANE DRAWING RALLY (Previously the Monster Drawing Rally)
A Benefit for the Spokane Art School
DATE: Friday, March 27, 2020
TIME: 5 to 9 PM
PLACE: Montvale Event Center, 1019 West First Ave, Spokane WA 99201
The SDR is a drawing event and fundraiser featuring more than 36 artists. The event consists of three one-hour rounds that each feature 12 or more artists drawing simultaneously. Part performance art, part laboratory, part art bazaar, the SDR is an incredible opportunity to go behind the studio walls and watch some of your favorite Spokane artists create original drawings from a blank page. As each round is completed, the drawings will be immediately hung up and made available for a fixed price of $50. If more than one person wishes to purchase an original drawing, the winner will be determined by drawing straws.
New for 2020, artists who are unable to participate may donate works that will be unveiled and available in the same fashion as the works created on site.
There will also be a silent auction of work from several artists who have created pieces ahead of time in their own studios. Bidding will occur throughout the evening with the auction closing at 8:30 pm. Past silent auction artists have included Ric Gendron, Mel McCuddin, Kay O’Rourke and Dara Harvey.
There will also be food and drink throughout the evening.
The proceeds from the SDR will go to support children’s drawing and painting programs at the Spokane Art School.
