In this weekend workshop we will learn how to prepare paper and silk fabrics in order to make botanical prints. This is an open ended, overview type class, meaning there is no exact project, but students will go home with a small library of samples and a syllabus that will give them information to continue the learning process. Most of the samples will be fat-quarter size, appropriate for making small projects or strips suitable for making small hairband type scarves if they don’t want to keep them as a set. Papers can be framed or used in all kinds of paper crafts.
Lab fees for supplies covers fabric and paper kits which will be provided by the instructor and all other supplies used in class. All plant materials provided, but if students wish to bring a few things from the garden that is ok too.
Students are advised to wear comfortable, practical clothing that can get dirty, and closed toed shoes. Aprons are a plus. Gloves, masks and etc. are included in the lab fee. This is an indoor/outdoor class, so check the weather and dress appropriately.
